They say flattery is one way to get what you're after but this morning Today host Karl Stefanovic found out it won't break NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

The premier refused to give up party secrets after Stefanovic questioned her on attempts to stop leaks from behind closed doors.

The line of questioning comes amid reports Ms Berejiklian urged her colleagues not to leak party room secrets during her first cabinet meeting of the year.

Stefanovic buttered the premier up by saying she's so "popular" she need not be concerned.

"You are one of the most popular politicians in the country. You wake up in the morning and you can't trust your own Cabinet, why can't you trust your own party, what's wrong with them?" he asked.

"You know I worry about you sometimes."

Ms Berejiklian laughed, and said, "don't be cheeky, Karl. You know I can't tell you what happens behind closed doors. I know you're dying to know.

Getting serious, the politician said the public remains her focus during the pandemic.

"We have a really strong government, focused on the public and the public need us more than ever. That's our focus," she said.

"We have been through the wars. It's been amazing to be able to be where we are at this stage, although you can never take anything for granted."
