Tiramisu World Cup on the hunt for official taste testers

The Tiramisu World Cup kicks off next month and the creators are on the hunt for official taste testers to determine this year's winner.

Whether it's your nonna, your aunty, or even your mate's sister's friend's uncle, mosty people know someone who apparently makes "the world's best Tiramisu".

So Francesco Redi, who hails from the home of the coffee and creme liquer sponge, Treviso, devised a competition for those who reckon they make the "world's best" to prove it.

The Tiramisu World Cup pits "non-professional" bakers against each other with the help of an amateur judging panel to determine the winner.

"We have three judging levels at this stage and we need them to study the rules very well because they are the first to guarantee the transparency and and authenticity of the competition," Lorenzo told Today Extra.

"They are assigned to a group of ten, so they have to just taste the ten of them and this is really incredible because you suddenly understand and realise where is the best."

The competition kicks off on October 10, in Treviso, in Italy's northeast and there are two categories which will be judged.

First up is the original recipe, which looks at how well amateur bakers can create the dessert using traditional ingredients.

Then there is the creative recipe, where the more adventurous competitiors can attempt to wow the judges with their own unique spin.

If you'd like to become an official judge for the Tiramisu World Cup, applications open online from September 13.
