Days after a controversial call to ban skimpy swimwear on and around beaches, the people of the Gold Coast have stripped off and said "Free The Peach".

Community worker Ian Grace said earlier this week, there was a problem in town with women and girls in G-string swimwear walking around and venturing into the streets and shops away from the beach even.

He wanted a total ban on the fashion, but was met with a resounding "I don't think so" from council and the majority of fellow community members.

So this morning, a group in support of being able to wear whatever you like on the beach, rallied together and even got Tim Davies to present the weather live from the beach.

But broadcaster Bianca Dye decided Tim was a little too overdressed for the occasion and decided to dack him during his live cross.

"Bianca, you nearly freed more than the peach," a red-faced Tim said as he tried to cover up with his cowboy hat.

"My goodness me, oh dear, oh dear."

But Tim is all for a good cause and during his next cross, he was willing to voluntarily take his pants down and show off his Budgie Smugglers in support of the movement.

"I have officially freed my peach, that's all you're going to see today," he said.
