Something called 'bounce back culture' has long pressured mothers to slim down to their pre-baby body as soon as possible.

But fitness legend Tiffiny Hall is rejecting the toxic trend after delivering her second child Vada in May.

Instead, Hall is encouraging mums to focus on progress, not perfection.

"I choose to bounce forward, not bounce back," Hall told Today Extra.

"That means go slowly, not comparing myself with others - Vada is so cute I'm loving being in that baby bubble still."

Hall said it is damaging to stress about getting back to the body you used to have and instead, you should focus on your future with your new baby and building new strength from that.

"I think comparing yourself to others, it can be so emotionally and mentally damaging instead of focusing on the first couple of months with your baby," she said.

As a new mum's body is still recovering from birth, Hall said you should look at sustainable and safe ways to rebuild your strength and concentrate on your mental health equally in the process.

"Bouncing forward means not comparing yourself with others - celebrate your wins," she said.
