Recent data shows that 11 per cent of Australians sleep naked, with the news sparking some surprise revelations from the Today hosts.

The research by Ikea looked at the sleeping habits of Aussies and found more than half are side sleepers, while only eight per cent sleep on their stomachs and 11 per cent on their backs.

A whopping 90 per cent of Australians say they wake up tired, despite getting seven hours of shut-eye a night.

While the Today hosts have no idea what that luxury of seven hours of sleep is about, they did have some interesting takes on the sleeping sans clothes part of the research.

"What if there was a fire? That would be my biggest fear," weather presenter Tim Davies said.

And while Timmy definitely doesn't want to be caught without pants in front of his neighbours, if he ever had to escape his burning house, Charles Croucher shared a bit too much info about his home life growing up.

"Just putting it out there... my parents," he revealed to his gob-smacked co-hosts.

And while Charles might be screening any calls from mum and dad this morning after revealing they are part of that 11 per cent, sports presenter Alex Cullen was also on board with covering up under the blankets.

"No, I do not sleep in the nude," he blushed.
