Baywatch star also battling cancer reflects on Shannen Doherty's death
After news this morning that Shannen Doherty has lost her battle with cancer, there has been an outpouring of love and support for the late Beverly Hills: 90210 star.
The news of the 53-year-old's death has hit fans, family and friends, particularly fellow '90s star Nicole Eggert.
Eggert starred in another hit show of the time, Baywatch, from 1992 until 1994 and also counted Doherty as a close friend.

Eggert, who was also diagnosed with breast cancer late last year, is undergoing a grueling program of chemotherapy to try and beat it and she reflected on how strong Doherty's spirit was and how much that helped her fight for so long.
"This one hits very differently, I've known Shannen for a lifetime, we were childhood friends," she said.
"She's such a strong individual, such a determined individual and it really showed with her battle and her fight and she fought hard for a long time and you know, it's not easy.
"I know she had it much tougher than I do and I can't imagine that, so I just hope she's resting easy and is no longer feeling any pain."
Doherty, who also starred in the fantasy series Charmed, as well as hit films like Heathers, Mallrats and Girls Just Want To Have Fun, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
She also had a brain tumour removed last year and later revealed the disease had spread to her bones.
Eggert was diagnosed with stage two cribriform carcinoma in December last year after she felt a strange sensation in her left breast.

While she is hopeful she'll beat the disease with her current treatment, scans didn't initially pick up the irregular cells and Eggert said this is why it's so important for people to self-check for lumps.
"The fact is, I have very dense breast tissue, so the mammograms and ultrasounds had been missing the cancer and so what really would have saved me in early stages is if I had been doing self-exams, which I wasn't," she said.
"So if there's anything I can tell people to do, it's to do the self-exams, because that's how I found it, I felt a little throbbing and I did a self-exam and there it was."
Eggert continues to host her weekly podcast, Perfectly Twisted, while undergoing treatment and will next appear in the Hulu docuseries, After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun, premiering on August 28.
