'Had some great memories there': Shane Warne 'sad' to sell family mansion

Cricket great Shane Warne says he is "sad" to sell his Victorian mansion but also offered to it give it to host Today Karl Stefanovic for "mates rates".

Stefanovic was questioning the bowler about why he was "hocking off" his Brighton home.

"What's going on. What is it going to cost us?" Stefanovic asked the former Australian one-day cricket captain.

Warnie laughed, and proposed a fantastic offer to the host.

"For you mates rates," he said.

"I can look after you - I can give you a big discount."

Getting serious, Warne said the family home while hold a treasured place in his heart.

"It's sad to see it go, it's a fantastic home," he said.

"We've had some great memories there, but it's time to move on. I've bought somewhere else - hopefully it will make a new family really, really happy."

Warnie, a prolific property flipper, then revealed his favourite way to unwind.

"When you need a break come out here and smash a pin ball thing and it helps you think better," he said.

Warnie bought the sprawling pad for $5.4m in 2018. He first listed it in March with a price guide of $6.8m to $7.4m, but he's now looking for $5.8m to $6.38m.

The home features five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and a four-car garage across 662 square metres of land.
