Sarah Abo has faced her fear of snakes during a segment on the show this morning.

Handlers from the Australian Reptile Park brought in two snakes, a python and a deadly eastern brown, to teach viewers about safety and what to do if bitten by one.

The Today hosts were happy keeping their distance for the segment, but when Karl Stefanovic said his co-host wanted to pet one - her bravery was really put to the test.

"You just told us not to touch them, oh my god, oh my god - this is terrifying," she panicked as a handler placed a small python in her hand.

Karl made sure he was a safe distance away when he asked about what steps to follow for medical treatment.

"Should you try and record somehow what kind of snake has savaged you, like this one that's about to bite Sarah?" he asked as Sarah concentrated on her new scaly friend.

"It is telling me it wants to say hi to my co-host," she replied.
