Sailor breaks silence after inflatable catamaran attacked by sharks
A sailor attempting a world-first circumnavigation from Tahiti to Australia, using an inflatable catamaran, said his vessel was "targeted" by sharks.
Evgeny Kovalevskiy was on board with a fellow Russian and French sailor when their boat started to take on water in the dead of night.
"Four hundred miles before Brisbane, before Australia, it was many times attacked by sharks," Evgeny told Today.

"They attacked our inflatable boat and we have many, many holes and started to go down."
Thankfully, Evgeny said his crew were able to get a signal out to a nearby Panama cargo ship last night and were rescued.
"They came to our inflatable boat and our boat is sinking, about to go down," he said.
Evgeny said his team will arrive in Brisbane later this morning where they will start preparing to continue their world-record trip back.
