Adventurers fly through London Tower Bridge wearing wing suits

A pair of adventurous skydivers have successfully jumped out of a helicopter hundreds of metres in the air and flown through the London Tower Bridge.

Marco Furst and Marco Waltenspiel were wearing only specially designed wingsuits when they dropped out of the chopper on Sunday morning - which has hovering 914 metres above the city.

And once the mates had successfully thread through the middle of the bridge, they released their parachutes, finishing off with a 10/10 landing.

But while some may call the pair crazy for risking their lives on such an incredible feat, they told Today a lot of preparation went into nailing that 45 second flight.

"It was like a two years of preparation, we did around 200 training jumps specific for that one jump," Waltenspiel said.

"In the training, we actually rebuilt the bridge - we measured every centimetre and it was quite an intense time, but it was an intense jump, so we prepared ourselves pretty well and it was worth it."

He said there were a lot of opportunities where something could have gone wrong, but they had radios built into their helmets and were in constant contact with each other.

Waltenspiel and Furst are both members of the Red Bull Skydive Team and have completed more than 22,000 jumps between them.

But the London Tower Bridge jump is one that has been an aspiration for a long time.

"It felt so incredible, we flew through the bridge and it was just amazing," Furst said.

"We had this dream in our minds for a long time and yesterday it became reality, so that was really, really cool."
