Ray Hadley provides update on granddaughter's shock cancer diagnosis

Ray Hadley has revealed how his family is handling the devastating news his three-year-old granddaughter has cancer.

Little Lola was diagnosed with Leukaemia on January 6, with the retired radio broadcaster sharing it has changed the course of his entire family's lives.

"It was really confronting the first week because I drove back from the Gold Coast to be with my daughter, Laura and her husband, Brad, at the hospital and they just fell apart as you would understand," he told Karl Stefanovic.

"She was a healthy, fit little girl and then in one breath, she's got leukaemia and the treatment for the last eight weeks has been, well, it's necessary, but really difficult for them to deal with."

But Hadley said Lola is strong and she has the full support of both her parents, grandparents and both Ray's children and their partners to get through it.

"I know we're not the only family battling in this way at the moment, she's three years of age and she's a beautiful little kid and she's so resilient," he said.

"She bounces back the next day after a general anaesthetic for either a bone marrow biopsy or a lumbar puncture, but retirement isn't all it's cracked up to be for me at the moment."
