Extreme weather leaves fire-affected communities on edge
Communities in Queensland's Western Downs region are being urged to remain on high alert with fire conditions set to worsen this week.
Temperatures will be in the mid to high 30s today and tomorrow with over 70 bushfires currently burning across the state.
Western Downs Mayor Paul McVeigh said while conditions were favourable for firefighters over the weekend, it's unclear what the future holds.

"We can't predict what the fires will do at this stage, but the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and the ambos, have done a fantastic job," Paul told Today.
"We have crews out there at the moment assessing the damage but the number of people impacted will be significant."
Fire crews continue battling several fronts across Queensland with hundreds of locals told to prepare to leave.
Watch and Act level warnings are in place across Colosseum, Landsborough, The Gums near Tara and in the Condamine region.
The fire in Landsborough is burning just a few kilometres away from Australia Zoo and 35 homes have already been lost, with fire conditions forecast to worsen tomorrow.
