Oscar Piastri's surprise revelation during exclusive chat with Today

He's the young star of McLaren's Formula 1 racing team, but Australia's Oscar Piastri made a surprise revelation while appearing on Today.

The 22-year-old has three consecutive championships under his belt, however, during an exclusive chat with reporter Christine Ahern, Piastri admitted he sometimes gets car sick.

"I do a little bit, not when I'm driving though," he clarified.

Ahern wanted to clarify it wasn't because of his girlfriend Lily's skills behind the wheel and he assured her it wasn't.

"No, it genuinely wasn't her, I won't name names but it's when some other culprits are driving," he said.

At such a young age, being a public figure and role model is something Piastri is growing into.

And after keeping his cool when McLaren decided Piastri's teammate Lando Norris would overtake him at last weekend's Australian Grand Prix, costing him a podium finish, it's clear he's doing just fine.

"I think, for me, that's just how I perform at my best," he said.

"It's always been in my personality to be quite calm and collected."

Piastri finished fourth, with Norris coming in third behind Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and teammate Charles Leclerc, who rounded out the podium this year.

But Piastri is already thinking about next year's race.

"Getting on the podium is probably the first step, but hopefully we can be in a position to do that next year and that's definitely the goal to be able to win everywhere we go."
