Melbourne couple lose $15,000 and their venue days out from wedding
A bride-to-be was left in tears this week after the venue she was meant to get married in went into liquidation.
Now, with just over a week until their big day, Tara and her fiancé James are out-of-pocket by $15,000 and have nowhere to tie the knot.
Tara told Today she and James went to Port Melbourne's On The Pier on Friday to finalise preparations for their big day and claimed management knew what was about to happen.

"We were there at the time they were being liquidated and they were just lying to our faces and saying, 'Everything's fine and we'll see you in two weeks,'" Tara said.
In fact, Tara said she only found out through her celebrant who heard through a friend, and that the venue was yet to even contact her to deliver the bad news.
"So now we've got 107 guests, bands, DJs, everything and no venue, drinks or food for anybody," she said, with tears in her eyes.
"And we now have less than nine days to go."

The couple appeared on 3AW this week and since then, other distressed couples and families have contacted them, saying they are in the same boat.
"Now that it's in liquidation, there's just no chance of getting our money back and now we're trying to put on a wedding with no money - it's just outrageous," James said.
"We were so diligent in getting everything together, Tara's been amazing in the process and to have it taken away at the last minute, we didn't overspend, it just means I have to extend my retirement."
