While exploring some of Australia's most remote locations and wrangling crocodiles is a part of Matt's everyday life, he said getting to "spend a bit of downtime" in nature is a big part of why he and his family do it.

"I think it's about educating the kids around wildlife now, but more so trying to spend a bit of time with the family," Matt told Today Extra.

"The job is a job. It is a necessity that's not going to go away, the crocs are still there, we are still going to be catching them."

Really immersing yourself with the natural world is a big part of what Matt does and this is why he is working with Great Northern in expanding their Zero G Network.

The Zero G Network is an initiative to create tech-free sanctuaries in the great outdoors.

Their mission is to keep a selection of areas offline so that future generations always have somewhere to get away from it all.

"I think just being off the grid, just getting away, you know," Matt said.

"Our businesses and our life revolves around phones, communication, always being on the blower all night, so it is important just literally shutting off and getting out there."
