Grandmother's strict rule inspires woman's unique Hollywood talent

A woman in the US has turned a hobby she started as a child into a full-blown career that is introducing her to some big names in Hollywood.

When Bridget McCarty was little, her grandmother used to collect miniatures.

She was told she could look but was never allowed to touch them.

"That just made me extra curious and I had to find out more about this hobby," she told Today Extra.

So in her early 20s, Bridget started going to conventions where she found out there is a whole group of people who love that sort of stuff.

Over the years, she has fine-tuned her skills and is able to recreate sets from some of the most iconic films and TV shows to grace our screens in recent decades.

Some of her popular recreations include Monica and Rachel's apartment in Friends, Jerry Seinfeld's place, the Rugrats kids' loungeroom, the Jurassic Park T-rex compound, Boo's room from Monsters Inc, the comic store from The Big Bang Theory and the living room from Stranger Things.

In fact, after posting her creations on social media, Bridget was contacted by none other than Full House's Uncle Jesse himself, John Stamos.

"He commented on TikTok and asked if I could do a Full House mini," she said.

"I was so excited because I loved that show growing up, so I built the set, posted the video and he loved it."

In fact, Bridget had met Stamos' wife the year before and when she invited them to her birthday party, John, his wife and child all turned up.

"It was a great time, he loved it and wanted to know all about how I made the miniatures," she said.

Bridget has now gained such a following for her work, studios including Universal have asked her to do promotional work for them for their upcoming projects.

"I kind of layout the walls, the doors and then the next step is just electrical, painting - I try to get everything as close as possible to the real sets," she said.
