Kate Middleton has been spotted in public for the first time in months, putting an end to rumours something sinister had happened to the British Royal behind closed doors.

The Princess of Wales underwent major surgery earlier this year, with Buckingham Palace confirming she would be on bed rest and not resume official duties until at least the beginning of April.

But much to the excitement of royal fans across the world, the 42-year-old was photographed this weekend shopping at a local farmers market with her husband, Prince William.

And while the Palace could argue these images obtained by The Sun UK and TMZ could be a breach of the princess' privacy while she is still recuperating, The Telegraph UK editor, Camilla Tominey pointed out it could work in their favour.

"It's interesting obviously - because there could be a claim from the Royals that it's a breach, but on the other hand, it's not inconvenient to the Palace that she be seen out and about, not least because we've had all of these conspiracy theories on whether she's been put in a rocket and shot into Mars? Will we ever see her again? What's happened?

"The social media world has gone completely bonkers so it is good to see her out and about with her husband smiling from ear to ear."

But while rumours have been running rife and there is even speculation over whether this footage of the Royal couple is recent - Camilla said it still surprises her there is even any speculation something is afoot.

"We were told in January that she'd had an operation on her abdomen, that she had been in the London clinic for 13 nights - which is a not insignificant amount of time - and that she was going to be recuperating at home with her husband until Easter at the earliest," she said.

"I can't quite work out why people have chosen to fill the void with a load of old nonsense, we've known where she's been the whole time, she's been at home resting."
