'Serious game face': Can Karl Stefanovic safely land a plane?

Computer games have come a long way since the original days of Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros, with people now able to fly plane simulators without leaving their living room.

And after a recent survey found 50 per cent of men think they can safely land a plane, Sarah Abo decided to put her co-host Karl Stefanovic to the test.

The Today hosts brought in tech expert, Trevor Long to run Karlos through the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

"This game has been around for 40 years, but now it's more realistic than ever before," Trevor said.

"This is flight SIM 2024 and we can choose to land, take off, go wherever you want - there's challenges and a whole education that teaches you how to fly and goes through training sets where you actually earn your licence to do different things."

And Karlos had his game face on - with a deep focus on safely landing his plane and keeping all the passengers onboard alive (even if he was actually sitting safely in the Today studio in North Sydney).
