Bushfire victim reunited with cat after two months

It's been two months since bushfires ravaged homes in Victoria but this morning, a story of hope has emerged from the ashes.

Leanne Waters feared she'd never see her cat Collie again after her Gooram property was destroyed by flames.

But incredibly, they have been reunited after nine weeks apart.

"I had been doing regular food runs because I did see him around week two, but he was very scared and would run away," Leanne told Today.

"So I went up and put his food out, also fed my chooks and did some other bits and pieces and was just about to leave when I saw him beside the dam."

Leanne said her german sheperd, Indy, absolutely adores Collie and she was relieved when Leanne brought the cat back home.

"Indy was so, so pleased and I put the two of them in the back of the car and the pair just cuddled on the back seat as I drove them home," she said.
