Halloween food that's fun, no-cook and so easy the kids can do it

I love being a fun Halloween mum with all the costumes, goodies, tricks and treats.

But the reality is that I don't always have time to make the epic treats that I want to.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways to cheat the system and just have fun decorating the treats, without ever turning on the oven.

So, here are some of my favourite no-cook Halloween treats to make your Halloween celebration easier this year.

Halloween treats can take just two minutes to make. Today

Monster jellies

It simply does not get any easier than this.

Ingredients:

  • Jelly cups

  • Candy eyeballs

Method:

Grab yourself some jelly cups from the supermarket (or make some little jelly cups of your own), flip them out of their containers onto a platter and dot some little candy eyes on top. The finished result looks just like Blobby from Hotel Transylvania.

Bloody biscuit bandaids

This one leans into the grosser and gorier aspects of Halloween, but they sure are easy fun!

Ingredients:

  • Vanilla wafer biscuit fingers

  • White cookie icing (in a squeeze bag from the supermarket)

  • Strawberry jam

Method:

Use a microplane to shave off the edge corners of the wafers for a rounded edge.

Draw the cookie icing onto the middle of the wafer in a small rectangle like the cotton pad in the middle of a bandaid.

Dot a little jam on top of the 'cotton pad' to look like a used and slightly bloody bandaid.

Boo board

Forget scarechuterie boards, cheese or butter boards, the boo board is what you need this Halloween.

Place chocolate drops on the sticky side to create a ghost face and dip them in the optional sparkly silver sprinkles to finish.

  • Vanilla frosting

  • Red food colouring

  • Mini marshmallows

  • Slivered almonds

Method:

Cut the cookies in half. Mix together the vanilla frosting and red food colouring and spread that on the bottom of each cookie half.

Line the outside edge with mini marshmallows standing upright (support the middle with a few too) and then place another cookie and icing halt of top, so it looks like a set of teeth.

Use some of the red frosting to secure sharp slivers of almond in like vampire fangs.
