A Gold Coast fitness professional has revealed how he stays in shape while devouring metre-long pizzas, four-kilogram burgers and giant cakes.

Jimmy Judge is a personal trainer who has gone viral on social media for the incredible eating challenges he sets himself.

But while most others in his industry would tell you to steer clear of that type of diet, or at least enjoy treats in moderation, Jimmy told Today he knows what he's doing eating such large portions of junk food.

"A lot of it is just balance, as crazy as that sounds," he said.

"We always say everything in moderation, but when I have a really big challenge day I will always do a big calorie deficit and lots of cardio around it.

"So I always try and balance my calories for the total week, not the total day and that allows me to maintain my weight."

Jimmy used to compete in boxing and would be really strict with managing his weight.

But he said once he had gone as far as he wanted to with that, watching shows such as Man vs Food inspired him to try it for himself.

"Once I stopped having to make weight for boxing, I filmed a couple of eating challenges and people started to really enjoy them," he said.

Jimmy said after most of his challenges he pulled up reasonably okay, but it was the ice cream and other dairy battles where he tended to feel a bit ordinary in the following days.

And while people often assume he must have a great metabolism to do what he does, he revealed a lot of hard work went into being able to eat like that.

"You can't eat like that everyday, behind the scenes there's a lot of cardio and a lot of fruit and vegetables being consumed," he said.
