Dickie's opinion on Frozen II revealed
A couple of winners in cinemas this week; one the sequel to the family favourite Frozen that's already setting the box office ablaze overseas, and the other touted as one of the best films of the year, a spectacular lavish all-star murder mystery.

What could go wrong as a super wealthy crime novelist played by Christopher Plummer invites his extended family to his magnificent remote mansion?
A lot. Harlan Thrombey is found dead the next morning. Enter ace private eye Benoit Blanc hired to investigate, played by the magnificent Daniel Craig, as you have never seen or heard him before. His southern drawl is a feature of his performance. It's fantastic, as is the entire ensemble cast. There is no weak link here, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Katherine Langford, Chris Evans and Michael Shannon all shine.

They all play quite unlikable characters, eager to get their hands on the old man's cash and each a suspect in his murder one way or another.
The film was written, produced and directed by Rian Johnson of The Last Jedi fame and is a tour de force.
It's a classic murder mystery, an Agatha Christie style whodunnit, with a modern feel. There are so many twists, turns and red herrings your head will spin. It is very, very clever, and I'm predicting Oscar nominations.
While we discover the cause of Harlan's death early on, this will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final frame. It's funny, ingenious and wildly entertaining. It is a must-see movie.

Frozen II
Also out today, the sequel to the computer-animated feature that took us to Arendelle and introduces us to the world of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Sven. Three years down the track they are back and off on another adventure to discover the origin of Elsa's powers.

If there is a guaranteed hit this is it. The filmmakers have been rewarded with an early Christmas present as box office receipts roll in from around the world. The storyline will make you laugh and cry, and as you'd expect, there are a couple of new songs that your subconscious will have trouble letting go of.
Look, don't take my word for it, the little ones love this thing to bits. In fact, to quote one youthful critic it wins five fingers and five toes. There you go.
