Rideshare company offers 'Australia-first' solution to collecting your car after a night out

The year is fast drawing to a close and party season is well and truly upon us.

Most Aussies know the feeling of driving to a social event, only to have a few too many drinks and have to leave the car overnight and come back for it the next morning.

But rideshare company DiDi has launched a new towing service, which will get both you and your car home safely and even make time for a late-night kebab or Macca's stop on the way, if you're lucky.

"DiDi Tow is an Australia-first service and it's designed to get both passengers and their cars home on the same night and save them that terrible morning trip," driver Lena Parevska told Today.

The trial has launched especially in time for the silly season and Lena said it's as simple as logging into your DiDi app and scrolling down to select the little orange tow truck icon to book.

"From there, we'll come around, grab the keys off you and put the vehicle on the back of our truck," she said.

The trial is operating out of Melbourne CBD, but once complete DiDi is looking at a national rollout and hope to lock in a pricing model similar to the DiDi Express service.

And it will operate exactly like the regular DiDi rideshare service, where you and the driver can rate each other and if you're lucky, they might even stop in for a late-night feed at a drive-through on the way home.

"Hey, if I'm really hungry as well, absolutely we will be pulling over, if it's safe to do so - I don't see why not,' Lena said.
