What rebates and entitlements are you eligible for?

As the cost of living soars there's never been a better time to get some extra cash in your pocket.

But there are plenty of rebates and entitlements you might not know about that can help ease that pressure on the bank account.

Today finance expert, Effie Zahos said it can be as easy as jumping online to check what you are eligible for.

"Costs and rebates are going up - It's important to know if you go on the state sites there is quite a bit of cash out there," she said.

Effie said if you log onto your state or territory government site a payment tool can guide guide you on what you may be entitled to.

For example, NSW offers discounts on licence renewal and car registration if you have clean driving record and Victoria offers up to $650 for help with utilities and South Australia offers discounts for children's glasses and dental.

For seniors, Effie said there are also generous rebates for energy and transport.

"If you go to the National Seniors website and type in what kind of concession card you have, you may find there are a few you are entitled to," she said.

Effie also said there is a substantial amount of "lost money" out there and each state and territory has a website you can check to see if you are owed any.

"You have to get on these websites," she said.

"Queensland has $111 million in lost money, Victoria has $190 million just for a couple of examples. So again it's worthwhile going onto these websites because you know, every bit does count."
