Products Australians will be buying when Click Frenzy takes off

Exercise equipment, computers and office furniture are some of the items Australians are tipped to swoop on when the Click Frenzy mega-sale begins tonight.

The two-day sale stops the nation several times a year as hundreds of retailers offer up coveted products on an aggregator site.

Last year a Sony 65" UHD LED Smart TV was being sold for just $15, while a Nintendo Switch Neon Console went for $4.

Everything from travel to electronics goes on offer, however Professor Gary Mortimer from QUT Business School said this year's sale will be different as COVID-19 takes its toll on discretionary spending.

With 1.6 million Australians out of work, Dr Mortimer believes travel and clothes won't sell as well as previous years because people will only focus on the things they really need.

"Click Frenzy was very good with their travel deals, this year we can't really go anywhere," he explained.

"Because gyms are closed we want to exercise more. Items that have worked really well are exercise equipment, activewear, footwear."

Dr Mortimer expects home decorating products, electronics, computers, office furniture and stationery to also be hot-ticket items, as people spend more time at home both working and home-schooling.

Shoppers are being warned to expect delays to orders as Australia Post offers fewer delivery times."Australia Post have indicated they're struggling to keep up with deliveries," Dr Mortimer said.

"If you buy something tonight, don't expect delivery in the next 24 to 48 hours. Give it a couple of weeks."

Click Frenzy Mayhem begins at 7pm (AEST) Tuesday, May 19, 2020 and will run for a total of 53 hours.
