Amazon Australia opens first robotic fulfilment centre
It's the size of 24 football fields and Amazon Australia's new distribution centre in Western Sydney is relying completely on technology to help prepare your orders.
Amazon Australia Country Manager Janet Menzies told Today people will still be part of the operation, but with the help of robots they can get more items delivered more quickly.
"People remain at the heart of the operation, but the exciting thing about the robots is they make tasks easier," she said.

Ms Menzies showed Today footage of large shelving stacks that used to have to be manually carried by staff members from one part of the warehouse to the other.
"You can imagine we have 20 million items in this warehouse that would be quite a significant task," she said.
"Instead, what we have is these yellow shelving where items are stowed and then underneath them we have our robots.
"Those robots use the 100,000 QR codes to learn exactly where those 20 million items are an then they bring them to (staff)."

Humans then pick up from this stage and send the items out to their delivery destinations.
Ms Menzies said the robots know where your item is in the store the moment you make the order on the Amazon.com.au app.
"So the robots are an incredible innovation in terms of how we can serve customers."
