TODAY Block of Cash winner so excited she hangs up on hosts

The winner of this morning’s $10,000 TODAY Show Block of Cash call was so excited she hung up on the hosts live on air.

Suzanne Smith from Caloundra answered with the winning phrase  “I Wake Up With TODAY!” and was congratulated by host Lisa Wilkinson.

“Well done Suzanne you have now got $10,000 to call your own, what do you think you’ll do with it?”

The call then abruptly ended with a rustling noise.

“She’s taken the cash and run,” newsreader Sylvia Jeffries said.

“She’s dropped the phone like she’s dropped the mic. Like boom, ten grand dropped,” host David Campbell said.

“I like the way she thinks.”

Ms Smith later told a TODAY producer off-air “I was just so excited I hung up the phone”.

“Thanks guys, I watch you every morning and I was always hoping to talk to you and in my excitement I hung up”.

The retired 62-year-old lives with her husband Bob and says she has been entering the competition for years.
