Former Bandido bikie faces court over assault charges

Former Bandido bikie Toby Mitchell has faced a Melbourne court over an alleged assault shortly after his jail release, but is yet to enter a plea.

Clad in black and heavily tattooed, Mitchell's presence was noted by presiding magistrate Luisa Bazzani.

"Mr Mitchell attracts a lot of attention wherever he goes," she said.

"It might be his clothes, or it might be that his reputation precedes him."

Mitchell, 43, is charged with five offences including affray, intentionally causing injury and assault following an alleged incident at Southbank in December.

The ex-bikie enforcer appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday to request his five charges be adjourned a fourth time.

But Ms Bazzani said the matter had already been before the court on several occasions.

Lawyer Theo Magazis, acting for Mitchell - who earlier got told off by Ms Bazzani for using his phone in court - needed more time to narrow the areas of dispute.

Mr Magazis said his client would indicate whether he would contest or admit the charges at the next court date.

The matter was adjourned to March 15 for mention and Mitchell had his bail continued.

He did not comment to reporters as he left court and entered a black Mercedes.

Last time he left court, he shoved a female AAP photographer as members of the media jostled for footage.
