Tinder and Cosmo team up for Bachelor comp

Swiping right to Australian men on Tinder could land them the title of 2016 Bachelor of the Year.

The competition's everyday entrants will this year be selected from the male profiles that receive the most flicks of approval on the dating application, Cosmopolitan magazine announced on Wednesday.

Tinder was confirmed as the official sponsor of the contest - formerly run by Cleo and now in its 30th year.

Men who add the hashtag #TinderForCosmoBachelorOfTheYear to their profiles from August 28 to October 5 will receive automatic entry.

The top 300 nominees will be plucked from those with the highest number of right swipes - or marked interest from the application's female users - along with a handful of celebrities picked by the magazine team.

The judging panel will select the top 30 entrants and put them up for an online vote, before the Bachelor of the Year is announced in February 2017.
