Tigerair flight diverted after concerns over fumes in the cabin

Tiger Flight 517 from Brisbane to Melbourne sat forlornly between gates 58 and 59 at Sydney Airport's Terminal 2.

Beneath it a circle of ambulances and fire trucks, paramedics checking captain and crew for any respiratory concerns.

The A320 was over the state's central west when it diverted to Sydneyover concerns of strange fumes in the cabin.

The first many passengers knew that the plane had been divert was an announcement from the captain just before touching down in Sydney.

On arrival, passengers were quickly off-boarded and the flight cancelled with customers left to make alternate arrangements.
