Child and couple injured in serious head-on smash in Sydney's west

Three people, including a seven-year-old boy, have been rushed to hospital after a head-on smash in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to the Northern Road, Bringelly, about 11am after reports of a two-car crash.

One occupant is still trapped while the seven-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

A man and a woman, believed to have been in the same car as the child, have also been taken to hospital with various injuries.

It is believed the second man, still trapped in his vehicle, only suffered minor injuries.

The force of the crash sent one car spinning off the road and into a nearby field.

The Northern Road is closed in both directions.
