Three teens have been charged with the stabbing murder of a 16-year-old boy in Sydney's west.

Police and paramedics couldn't revive the boy after he was allegedly stabbed at a gathering with other young people at a home on Australis Drive, Ropes Crossing, in the early hours of June 4.

Investigators were initially met with a "wall of silence", but after releasing CCTV footage last week, they raided two homes at St Marys and Marayong about 6am on Thursday.

Police said they arrested a seventeen-year-old boy at each home and took a third boy, aged 16, into custody at Tregear shortly after.

Several items were seized for forensic examination, police said.

They were charged with with murder, affray, and wielding a knife in a public place and refused bail to appear in children's court on Friday.
