Three arrested after wild brawls in Sydney’s CBD

The fallout from Melbourne Cup celebrations has seen three people arrested after two separate fights broke out at a bar in Sydney’s CBD.

Police were called to a bar on George Street after reports of an assault just after 10pm.

A 38-year-old man fell to the ground unconscious after being allegedly punched in the face and a 26-year-old woman was also struck in the face with a plastic cup.

The man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition while the woman was treated for facial lacerations and taken to Sydney Eye Hospital.

A 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested and remain in custody at Day Street Police Station.

In an unrelated incident, it is alleged a man punched a 23-year-old woman in the face on the premises while police were conducting investigations on the original brawl.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and granted conditional bail.

Police have made applications for both men arrested to be served long term banning orders from licensed premises within the CBD.
