Plague of cockroaches uncovered in hoarder's home

A hoarder whose home was so badly infested with cockroaches it was almost condemned has blamed the insects for taking over his house.

The home owner, identified only as Seymour, is a retired orthopaedic surgeon who came to live with a countless number of roaches after he began gathering piles of junk in his house.

"My house is sort of cluttered, and I ended up with an infestation of roaches which I could not control," Seymour said on Hoarders: Buried Alive.

"Roaches have basically taken over the house."

The cockroach plague was so bad the City of Philadelphia threatened to condemn the dwelling.

The bugs even latched onto Seymour's clothing and he carried them outside his home and left them wherever he went.

"Steve" the exterminator from Stephen's Extermination said he never saw anything as bad as Seymour's cesspit, at one point picking up a pot with over 200 dead roaches inside.

"In all my years of doing this type of work, nothing freaks me out, but seeing the type of filth that I just witnessed makes my skin crawl," Steve said.
