Arrest made after dramatic standoff with shirtless man on crane in Melbourne
A 50-year-old man has been arrested after climbing onto a crane and refusing to move at a Melbourne construction site.
Police had been negotiating with the man, who had been sitting atop the crane on High Street in Thomastown since 1.45am.
Emergency services were first alerted to the incident after receiving reports of a fire at the construction site.

Fire crews responded and extinguished the blaze inside a building, which police believe was deliberately set.
While on the scene, officers spotted the man on the crane.
Police confirmed there were no major damages to the building.
Police successfully negotiated with the man, who agreed to climb down just after 8am.
The 50-year-old Thomastown man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries suffered from an unrelated incident.
He will be interviewed by police at a later date.
