Woman claims affair with 'famous athlete', gives away key details on US talk show

A young woman has claimed that she had an affair with a famous hockey player and given away identifying details about him, in a casual street interview for US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

When asked “what’s the most impressive thing you’ve ever done”, the woman admits cheating on her ex-boyfriend, in the clip released by the show.

“I don’t know, cheat on my boyfriend and not have him find out,” the woman says.

The interviewer expresses shock that she was so willing to admit to the affair.

“It’s an old boyfriend… sorry Ben,” the woman replies.

“The guy was a famous athlete,” she adds, seemingly as an afterthought.

“I can’t say his name.”

Despite insisting that she couldn’t name the athlete, the woman continues to divulge details, even revealing the athlete’s initials as TJ and the fact that he plays hockey for Florida – Tampa Bay – in fact.

“OK, so he plays for Tampa Bay, his initials are T and J… Tyler Johnson?” the interviewer asks, again surprised at how much his subject has revealed.

“I have to go!” the woman exclaims, flustered.

Jimmy Kimmel commented on the clip, saying “Sorry Tyler… he’s probably over it by now.”

Johnson, who has played for the Tampa Bay Lightning since 2011, has denied the woman's claim. 

“I have no idea who she is or why what was said was said. People can talk but (that) doesn’t mean it’s true,” he told the Tampa Bay Times.

Johnson, 25, has played ice hockey at an international level, helping secure the US a gold medal at the 2010 World Junior Championships.
