The Voice launch lower than last year

Reality show The Voice has had its lowest opening night on Australian TV yet, but it still topped the ratings on Sunday night.

The Network Nine singing show, featuring new judge Jessie J, drew 1.557 million viewers, according to OzTAM's overnight ratings figures.

Last season's opener of The Voice with A-list coaches Kylie Minogue and will.i.am reached 2.155 million viewers. In 2013, the season premiere was watched by more than 1.8 million people and the first ever season also cracked two million viewers.

Nine's 60 Minutes was fourth with 1.073 million people tuning in to watch disgraced wellness blogger Belle Gibson's grilling by reporter Tara Brown.

MasterChef on Network Ten was sixth with 879,000 viewers.
