Two people are Christmas millionaires and they don't even know it

Christmas has come early for two people in Australia who are now millionaires but they don’t even know it.

The Lott has taken to its Facebook page in an attempt to find the mystery winners – one in Melbourne and one in Sydney - of Saturday night’s lottery draw.

The unclaimed prizes are both $1 million.

The person in Melbourne purchased a winning ticket from Coburg Hub Lotto, Coburg, with the Division 1 prize of $1,018,499.24.

The Sydney lotto winner bought the ticket from Connection Newsagency in Sydney. The Division 1 prize is also $1,018,499.24.

Apart from the two winnings, there are currently another nine unclaimed division one prizes across Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia worth $8,209,996.95 in total.

Six of the nine unclaimed prizes are from entries sold in Queensland. 

“We’re in the business of paying prizes so we never lose hope of uniting winners with their prizes,” The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said.

“After all, we’ve had winners happily discover their windfall weeks, months and even years after their win.”
