* Julie Bishop says Australia would "consider a request" for boots on the ground in US-led coalition actions against IS.

* The federal government says the first Syrian refugee family to arrive in Australia, due in Perth on Tuesday, has been "hand-picked" and thoroughly screened.

* Hacker group Anonymous, which has members in Australia, declares cyber war on IS saying they're the "better hackers".
