Terror group IS lauds Parramatta shooting

Islamic State wants its supporters to find inspiration in the murder of a NSW Police employee by Sydney teenager Farhad Jabar and carry out more attacks on Australian soil.

The latest issue of the terror group's online magazine, Dabiq, tags the 15-year-old a "brave knight" for shooting Curtis Cheng outside NSW Police headquarters in Parramatta last month.

Age shouldn't be a barrier to attacking "kuffar", or non-Muslims, and efforts to stop foreign fighters joining IS in the Middle East shouldn't dissuade followers from taking action in Australia.

"Amongst these brave knights of tawhid (God) and jihad was fifteen-year-old Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar, who on 2 October 2015 struck the crusaders of Australia and killed one of their personnel," the magazine, released overnight on Wednesday, said.

"They did not use the obstacles laid down by the kuffar on the path to hijrah as an excuse to abandon jihad against the enemies.

"They did not use a younger age or lack of training as an excuse to be mere bystanders."

Hijrah is commonly used by IS when referring to travel to the Middle East to join the group.

An IS spokesman cited in the magazine says police, security, and intelligence workers across the western world, including in Australia, must be targeted.

"If you can kill a kafir (sic) American or European, especially the spiteful and filthy French or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other kafir (sic) from the harbi kuffar, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill them in any manner possible, regardless of the method," he said.

The magazine also boasts about Friday's terror attacks in Paris, which killed at least 129 people dead and wounded 350, and the bombing of a Russian passenger plane over Egypt last month, which killed 224.

IS claims responsibility for both events.

Mr Cheng was shot dead October 2 by Jabar, who was himself taken down by a police officer.
