Channel 10 presenter stumbles through autocue fail
Channel 10 sports presenter Nick Butler has stumbled through more than two minutes of agonising live TV after his autocue failed.
Butler was only seconds into the first sport package during yesterday's 5pm bulletin when the cracks began to show.
Unscripted, the Adelaide reporter managed to wrap up the story relatively unscathed.
But an excruciatingly awkward sequence followed, which saw a wide-eyed Butler fumble through papers, trying to find a missing script and eventually resort to trying to guess what was coming up next – to no avail.
"Apologies for this," he said.
"We'll go with some golf … no we won't, we'll go with Play of the Day."
Even a camera pan to co-host Rebecca Morse failed to rescue the bulletin, with the news anchor caught off-guard and cross-armed, equal parts bemused to angry.
Morse took to her Instagram account to make light of the gaffe.
Uploading a photo of herself and Nick, she wrote: "And that is what you might like to call an unmitigated disaster."
