Teens walk after being sentenced over Sydney park rape

Two teenagers will walk from a western Sydney court after they were sentenced for their role in the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in a Doonside park.

The youngest of the pair, neither of whom can be named because they were under 18 when they sexually assaulted the girl in February 2014, was handed a suspended control order in Parramatta District Court on Friday and walked free from the courthouse moments later.

Judge Martin Sides sentenced the other offender to a lengthy control order but backdated it so that the teenager - who was on probation for other offences when he committed the crime - could be immediately released on parole.
