Teens arrested in Melbourne after ute reaches 170km/h in high-speed police chase

A high-speed police chase throughout Melbourne's south-east this morning has ended in the dramatic arrest of two teens.

Police spotted an allegedly stolen orange Holden Colorado ute on the Monash Freeway in Narre Warren about 1.20am.

It's understood the car had been observed driving erratically and travelling at speeds up to 170km/h on the freeway and throughout Warragul, Pakenham, Narre Warren, Hampton Park and Dandenong South.

With the assistance of the Air Wing, police successfully deployed stop sticks on Greens Road in Dandenong South.

The Holden was allegedly dumped in Hampton Park before the duo - a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy - fled on foot.

They were arrested in nearby parkland.

Police will allege the ute was stolen from a home in Cranbourne West about 4am on Saturday.

The girl, from Armstrong Creek in Geelong, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and was bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.

The Hampton Park boy was charged with a string of offences including dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police, handling stolen good and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was also bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.
