Teenage boy allegedly sexually assaulted by man he met online

A Hunter Valley man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy he met online.

Police arrested a 27-year-old man, from Buttai, in the New South Wales, yesterday after reports he had sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy.

The teen allegedly met the man on a social media application in December 2018.

Police allege the sexual assault happened inside a vehicle in the Hunter Valley and are urging parents to be vigilant with their children's online safety.

The man has been charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with a child between the ages of 14 and 16.

He was refused bail and will appear in Cessnock Local Court today.
