A 15-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after an abseiling accident in the Blue Mountains.

He was airlifted to the Children's Hospital at Westmead after he suffered serious injuries after falling from a cliff at Mitchell's Ridge Road lookout, Mount Victoria just before 11am today.

Blue Mountains Police Area Command were the first to find the boy, who is believed to have suffered leg injuries as a result of the suspected accident.
