Alleged hoon tackled by neighbours car slams into Queensland home

Gold Coast residents have staged a citizens' arrest after a teenager crashed his car into a house last night.

The 16-year-old driver and his passenger, also 16, tried to flee after their car crashed through a fence and into the patio of a home at Pacific Pines about 8.30pm.

Residents said the crash was so loud it shook the home and had dozens of neighbours rushing out to see what had happened.

Young mum Giana Folds and her two-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter were inside when the crashed occurred.

“It was as if a bomb had gone off,” she told 9NEWS.

“She (her daughter) was sitting right next to the sliding door and she was screaming, my son was screaming.”

Neighbours allegedly found the teenage driver and his passenger attempting to abandon the crash scene.

They grabbed the pair and detained them until police arrived.

The driver is facing charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stay at the scene of a crash.
