Teenage girl allegedly raped at knifepoint in southern New South Wales

A teenage girl has been taken to hospital after allegedly being raped at knifepoint in southern New South Wales.

The 17-year-old told police she was walking along the Dean Street overpass in Albury at 6.20pm on Tuesday night when three men began to follow her.

Inspector Scott Russell said the girl was dragged into bushes by the men and raped at knifepoint, ABC reports.

“Two of the males allegedly took hold of the girl and took her into a nearby bush where one of the males took a knife and threatened her, before she was sexually assaulted,” said Inspector Russell.

They then ran off down Dean Street and the girl contacted police immediately.

Police are approaching nearby businesses for any CCTV footage they may have to help identify the men but are appealing for anyone who has any further information to come forward.

“Somebody must have seen something, and we ask that anyone that might have seen or heard anything, or have any information to please contact us here at the Albury police station, or Crime Stoppers.”

The girl was taken to Albury Hospital for treatment and Inspector Russell confirmed that while she was visibly shaken she did not receive any physical injuries.
