Cabbie stabbed in the head drives himself to Ashfield police station

A taxi driver in Sydney's inner west was stabbed in the head during an attempted robbery last night.

The man, aged 50, was bleeding from a wound to his head and drove himself to Ashfield Police Station at 10.15pm.

The injury left blood splatter on the pavement in front of the police station.

The driver was treated by paramedics at the police station before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. He has since been released from hospital.

A woman, 24, who was a passenger in the cab was later arrested. She was taken to Burwood station and charged with assault with intent to rob while armed with an offensive weapon.

She was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court later today.
