Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison insists Australia has the toughest anti-avoidance tax law in the world and the benefits from recent government changes will see revenues flow into the next financial year.

Australian Taxation Office data last week showed 732 companies paid no tax at all during the 2015/16 financial year.

"I think every multinational should pay the tax that they should be paying on the income they earn here, and that is what our laws are designed to achieve," Mr Morrison told reporters in Sydney on Monday.
