Young artists thousands out of pocket after tattoo expo postponed at last minute

Young tattoo artists and other exhibitors have been left thousands of dollars out of pocket after an expo was indefinitely postponed at the last minute.

Organisers postponed the Australian Tattoo Expo and Adelaide Sexpo, which was scheduled to get underway in less than two weeks, with exhibitors finding out via email just last night.

"I feel almost betrayed," said tattoo artist Khaine Reynolds.

"My gut dropped, I was pretty upset. 

"We're out of pocket quite a lot of money and very emotionally invested."

Emily Day, another affected artist, lamented the lost preparation. 

"I think what frustrates me the most is the effort and the time we've put into it," she said.

"So yes we know we've lost a lot of money, but yes we've also lost a lot of time doing our designs."

Tickets were still on sale this morning, but by this afternoon, that was shut down.

The Adelaide Showgrounds has confirmed to 9News a booking was made by the event organisers but has since been postponed.

"We don't just want our money back, but an opportunity to be able to do what we thought we would be doing," Day said.

It's understood a legal dispute between business partners caused the postponement.
